Review: Balm Balm Frankincense Deep Cleansing Balm

You will have probably noticed the balm cleanser trend going around at the moment and I am definitely a supporter of it! I love the idea of removing my make up at the end of the day with a little mini facial massage, I mean who doesn’t love that? If you don’t know this about me, I have never EVER gone to bed with my make up on so a very good cleansing routine is very important for me.
Today I am reviewing the Frankincense Deep Cleansing Balm by Balm Balm. I purchased this cleanser from feelunique at random during their post Christmas sale. I had never used anything by this brand but I wanted to try a new cleansing balm and this one is 100% organic and is pretty affordable so I thought why not give it a go.
It has been 6 weeks since I’ve been using it and unfortunately I am not really a big fan of it. I have combination/dehydrated skin just to give you an idea here. Here are a list of pros and cons of this product for me personally:
-100% Organic; made with natural oils and waxes, Frankincense (an essential oil which is said to improve skin tone and condition) and grapefruit.
-Affordable; It is $13.98 USD on the feelunique website HERE
-Not irritating (for my skin and I have sensitive skin)
-Very greasy; As you can see in the photos it melts into an oil which is very difficult to wash off.
-Doesn’t remove make up; After washing my face with this I would notice make up residue on the cotton pad that I applied my toner with. This doesn’t happen with my usual cleanser. This was also the most disappointing thing about this product since it promises a deep cleanse on the pot.
-Leaves a residue; I don’t like a squeaky clean face but I also don’t like to have anything left on my face from my cleanser. The point of a cleanser is to cleanse and leave the face feeling normal, not dry and not moisturized either. If you like to have a bit of oily residue on your face after cleansing then go for it but for me this is a con.

So for me personally, I would not purchase this again. I’m actually not going to finish this pot either. I’m disappointed and I actually really wanted to love this product but sadly that wasn’t the case!

ps. If you’re wondering how I’m doing with the challenge I talked about in this post, it’s going well. It is very difficult for me to drink that much water in one day but I’ve been pushing myself. After all it is called a challenge 😉

Have you used this product before? and if so what did you think of it?
I’m off to watch the Oscars red carpet now, very excited!

That’s a shame that it’s so greasy and leaves a residue. I would want my skin to feel clean and fresh afterwards instead.

I really want to try a cleansing balm. Thanks for this review. I’ll be sure to choose a different cleansing balm.

Cleansing balm is best used together with muslin cloth, probably that is why your face is still oily because just by washing them won’t help.
